Our Privacy Principles

At Grey Glade, we make your privacy a priority. We know your trust is earned every time you use Grey Glade, or any of our other products — that’s why we treat your information differently than most other tech companies.

We don’t stockpile your private messages and we don’t publicly showcase a timeline of everything you’ve ever posted. Grey Glade has been designed so that people can only see the things you want to share, for as long as you want to share them. We believe this makes Grey Glade feel less like a permanent record and more like a customisable event over which you have control.

Even though our products are constantly evolving, our privacy principles remain unchanged:

We communicate honestly and openly

When you use Grey Glade products, you share information with us — it’s our responsibility to help you understand how that information is used. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information — you can read the highlights on the appropriate page. If you’re curious about how a certain feature uses your data, there we break things down a bit more. We also explain how features use data right inside of our products, and throughout our Support Centre. Of course, if you still can’t find what you need, you can always contact us to ask.

You choose how to express yourself

We believe that privacy is essential to empowering self-expression. That’s why you’re in control of who you share things with, how you share them, and how long they can be seen. You decide who can see your site, which clients and customers have access to your products and services, and just how long your records stick around. You can keep things just between you and a private client, or share an opportunity with the whole world.

We design with privacy in mind

New features go through an intense privacy review process — we talk about things, we debate them, and we work hard to build products we’re proud of and that we’ll want to use. After all, we use these products every day, both at work and in our personal lives. We handle your information with the same care that we use for ourselves, our company, our family, and our friends.

You control your information

You have the right to control your information. That’s why we provide easy ways to access and update your information, adjust how much information you share with us, and request that we delete your information — or your account, altogether. You can control most of your privacy settings right from your website or app. You can even contact us and delete all of your information. If you ever have any specific questions about your data, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Deletion is our default

Grey Glade aims to provide services in a safe and efficient manner — that’s why information is deleted from our servers once it has expired. After data is deleted, we’ll only be able to see the basic details — like when it was created and what size it was.

It’s important to keep in mind that other people can always record your data, or save things using a third-party app. At the end of the day, it’s best to only share the need-to-know stuff with the people you really trust — just like you would in real life.

Your Privacy, Explained

Privacy policies tend to be pretty long — and pretty confusing. That’s why we did our best to make our Privacy Policy brief, clear, and easy-to-read!

You should read our entire Privacy Policy, but when you only have a few minutes or want to remember something later on, you can always take a look at this summary — so you can learn or recall some of the basics in just a few minutes.

What we do at Grey Glade

At Grey Glade, our mission is to provide the best Online Services experience in the easiest and most efficient way possible – we want all of our clients and partners to trust us to provide the highest levels of service.

To provide our services and make them better, we learn some things about you when you use Grey Glade, and our other services.

As part of our regular business, we make money by selling ads. We use some of what we know about you to serve ads you might be interested in — when you might be interested in them. For example, if your business is in the fashion world, we might show you ads for the latest style of jeans. Or if you’ve clicked on a bunch of ads for video games, we might keep those ads coming. But we also use your information to avoid showing you ads you probably won’t like. For example, if a ticketing site tells us you’ve already bought tickets for a movie — or if you bought them through Grey Glade — we can stop showing you ads for it.

How we gather information

First, we learn about you when you use our service. We do this through analysis of your business and browsing patterns.

Second, we learn from whatever information you choose to give us. For example, when you set up a Grey Glade account, we learn your birthday, email address, and the unique name of your business.

Third, we sometimes learn about you from other people and services. For example, if another business in the Grey Glade community enters a partnership with you, we may be aware of some of those details. Or, if you tap on an ad for a video game, the advertiser may let us know that you installed it.

How we share information

When we share information, it’s usually because you ask us to — like when you want to add an advertisement to your site. Some of your information, like your website URL and public-facing contact details, is visible to the public by default.

We also share information within the Grey Glade family of companies, with business partners that help us provide our services, and when we think it’s required by law.

For most everything else, you will be able to choose how your data is used.

How we store information

Grey Glade is about intelligent and efficient strategy. That’s why when you trust us with your Online Services, we use your data in our strategy and processes. We may thus keep your data for purposes which do not seem immediately obvious, but which are proven to be beneficial to your business from our past experiences.

And remember: your public data can always be saved or recorded by third-parties.

Other information may be stored for longer. For example, we store your basic account information until you ask us to delete it. And we’re constantly collecting and updating information about the things you might like and dislike, so we can provide you with better content and advertisements.

How you control your information

Want to update your account information or change who can see your details? Just check in with us and we will take care of it. Curious about your information that’s not publicly available? Same idea. If you ever want to leave Grey Glade and delete your account for good, we have tools for that too.

How We Use Your Information

Our services are made to be simple and easy to use, but a lot of work goes into keeping them up and running. One of the key elements that powers our products is information that’s either shared or intuited — so here’s a quick walkthrough of the information we use, and how we use it.

Develop New Features & Improve Existing Ones

First stop: development. Our teams work closely together to develop fun, imaginative new features. You actually help out our development team every day, just by using our products!

For example, we look at the apps and servers that our clients use the most to decide which ones we should create next. We develop a lot of our features with the same approach, so we can stay on top of our game and build new things you will find useful.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our services too. Sometimes, we’ll change how a feature works or how certain apps look. Your information can help us decide what kind of improvements we should make. For example, Grey Glade can guess who will fit your ideal customer profile, based on data we have gathered from previous clients — so our services can with this information to make your marketing more effective. Studying data from a lot of the Grey Glade community can help us see trends in the ways that people use our services. This helps inspire us to improve Grey Glade in big ways, and on a larger scale.

Keep Things Up & Running

Next up: operations. Our products work by sharing some information you ask us to — like a new product you want to make available on your website. Specific features, especially bespoke features, can use your location data to help you explore a map and share your location. You can also use QR codes to share websites, information, and contacts with others in the Grey Glade community, or the general public.

To keep things running, we also monitor the way our products and features are used, analyze trends, and listen to your feedback to help improve them every day. For example, we might analyze how long you’re in an app we design, what products or services you use the most, and the specific content you like to use and consume. This helps us better understand what’s resonating with our community — and helps you with greater data accuracy.

We also use some of your information to help keep our products up to date. As a software company, it’s important to make sure that our products are kept up to specification with as many formats as possible. So, if you got a new phone on launch day, we might assess the performance of your device to make sure that we’re optimizing Grey Glade services for it.

Similarly, when we release new versions of particular apps or websites, we need to make sure it works well on different operating systems and devices. Over six hundred thousand new posts are created and shared every single day on a Grey Glade community client creation, so we also analyze the volume of new posts to make sure we can deliver them all quickly and securely.

Personalize Your Experience & Give Things Context

No two people are the same, so we use some of your information to tailor your Grey Glade experience especially for your business. For example, we personalize the specific content you can see — so if you show interest in data analytics, we will advertise such features to you.

We can also personalize your experience to highlight content you might be interested in, and present you with a personalized overview of your Products and Services. We can also personalize ads and offers to make your experience unique.

We also use information to help give your Online Services some context, based on where you are and what’s going on around you. This includes data that can show the time, location, the weather, or special features and services appropriate to your particular conditions. Also, we use this information to sort your account data, so it can be organized based on when and where it was captured.

Keep Our Services Safe & Secure

It’s important to us that you’re as safe and secure as possible when you’re using our services, so we use some of your information to enhance these aspects of our products too. For example, we provide two-factor authentication to secure your account and can send you an email or text message if we notice any suspicious activity. We also scan URLs sent on Grey Glade to see if that webpage is potentially harmful, and can give you a warning about it.

Provide Relevant Ads

We think ads are best when they’re relevant — advertisers prefer them and we think you’ll like them more too. So, we use some of the information we learn about you to try and select the right ads at the right time. For example, if you’ve clicked on a bunch of ads for video games, we might keep those ads coming. But we also use your information to avoid showing you ads you probably won’t like. For example, if a ticketing site tells us you’ve already bought tickets for a movie — or if you bought them through a Grey Glade community member — we can stop showing you ads for it.

Reach Out to You

Sometimes we’ll get in touch with you to give you information of new features, products and services we’re releasing, promotions, and other things like that. We mainly do this through our established contact means, but sometimes we’ll send you an email or text message if it’s really important. We also use your information to get back to you when you’ve reached out to our Support team. We definitely don’t like spam ourselves, so we try to limit the emails and messages we send.

Enforce Our Terms & Policies

The last category is legal. In some cases, we use your information for legal purposes. For example, when unlawful content is posted on Grey Glade or another one of our services, we may need to enforce our Terms of Service and other policies. In some cases, we may also use or share your information to cooperate with law enforcement requests or comply with our legal obligations. Check out our Transparency Report to learn more.
